Marriott Hotel Manila  had a soft opening last October 12, and is already experiencing brisk sales and is pleasing customers. The hotel will be in full operation by the end of November 2009.

Today, I went to the Marriott Hotel Manila’s media launch upon Michelle Garcia’s (the Marketing Communications Manager) invitation. We were treated to a sumptuous lunch buffet serving both international and local cuisine. I sampled the Filipino, Indian, Japanese, Chinese dishes, and they were very good!

While we were having lunch, Mitch shared with us their “Spirit of Service” philosophy. Every day, each department will meet and discuss among themselves how they plan to make their guests feel welcome. What’s amazing is that they do this every single day. I think this way, they get to brainstorm new ideas of pleasing customers.

In addition, to make sure that the Marriott Hotel Manila associates (yes, they call their employees associates) give their best to please customers, Management takes care of the associates first and foremost. They believe that if they take care of their associates, the associates will in turn take care of the customers. And a satisfied customer will keep coming back and will bring friends and family with him.

Such a clever customer service strategy, and a doable one, don’t you think?
